How Artificial Intelligence is enhancing People Management at Fabamaq
At Fabamaq, a casino gaming company based in Porto, innovation and technology are daily practices that run through the entire organization, including the People department. People Business Partners Sérgio Maia and David Paulo share how they have been integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into their work and how this technology is transforming processes, routines, and relationships with our Gamers.
A boost to active listening in check-ins
The use of AI in the People context began with Transkriptor, an automatic transcription tool used during check-ins with employees. These moments of active listening focus on wellbeing, alignment, and individual growth.
Real-time transcription allows the team to capture the essence of these conversations without compromising the natural flow of dialogue. The transcript then serves as a basis for strategic reports and decisions within our software house.

Clarity, transparency, and privacy
Whenever Transkriptor is used, the team informs participants about how the tool works and always gives the option to opt out of AI during the session.
“It’s a matter of trust. We explain that the conversation will be transcribed, and if the person prefers, we go back to the traditional method. What matters most is the comfort of the person with us,” David adds.
Since Transkriptor is an external tool, the team is especially cautious with sensitive data. Private or confidential information is never shared when using the tool.
NotebookLM: transforming data into insights
After transcription, the next step involves NotebookLM, a Google tool used to organize, summarize, and manage collected content. Its ability to synthesize information with referenced sources makes the analysis process more efficient and reliable.
Alongside NotebookLM, the team also uses tools like ChatGPT to structure communications, answer questions, or explore different approaches to people management challenges.

Benefits of AI in a tech company
In a fast-paced environment like a gaming company, time is precious and AI has proven to be a valuable ally for the People team:
More focus on relationships: By not needing to take notes manually, PBPs can be more present in the conversation
More effective documentation: Transcripts and summaries help structure information more clearly
Faster research and communication: Tasks like writing reports or reviewing complex topics become more agile
Better decision-making support: Information becomes more accessible, allowing for better-informed decisions
Responsible and thoughtful usage
Despite its benefits, there is clear awareness of the risks: algorithmic bias, data control loss, or over-reliance on automation.
Responsible AI usage relies on training, clear communication, and well-defined guidelines, something the People team is already working on for the near future.

The future of AI in people management
At Fabamaq, a tech company based in Porto, AI is becoming a strong ally in talent management. Not as a magical solution or a replacement for human interaction, but as a tool to enhance the quality of relationships, free up time for what matters, and support more informed decisions.
By automating repetitive or administrative tasks, AI allows the People team to be more connected with Gamers, build stronger relationships, and respond more personally to their needs. Whether in check-ins, reports, or data analysis, the goal remains to improve the experience of those who are part of our casino gaming company.
That commitment also extends to wellbeing and mental health initiatives, like free psychological support sessions and a benefits pack available to all team members.
“Our goal is to create more time and space for what’s truly human: listening, growth, and connection. Technology comes in to support that purpose, not replace it,” adds David.
We believe that the future of people management in tech companies in Portugal lies in this balance, merging innovation with empathy. And in this game, Fabamaq is ready to keep playing to win.
AI is just one of the languages of the future
